Our Founder 

Yatal Primary and High School was founded by the late Nomsa Nxumalo, a remarkable woman whose life’s work was rooted in service, education, and community upliftment. She  is also the visionary behind the Destiny Learning Centre which is now over 20 years old.

Nomsa Nxumalo was a strong leader, deeply passionate about children and their right to quality education. She believed that schools should be safe spaces where young minds are nurtured, character is built, and potential is unlocked regardless of background or circumstance.

Her commitment to the Yeoville and Berea community went beyond the classroom. She understood the power of education as a tool for transformation and dedicated her life to creating opportunities for children to learn, grow, and thrive.

Though she is no longer with us, her legacy lives on through Yatal Primary School. Every learner taught, every value instilled, and every future shaped within these walls stands as a tribute to her vision.

We honour her memory, we uphold her values, and we ensure that Nomsa Nxumalo is never forgotten.
